INFINITY WITHIN

It’s really not all that bad
Just not that many options
Not anymore, no more doors
And too much consciousness
Optimism is still there
Still a glow on that candle
Still waters still running deep
Still a kick in that ankle
Sometimes and some days
Can be too much to bear
No one is around you
But someone is always there
Call them friend, call them father
Call them sister, call them mother
They have your name, you taste them when you cry
They know what you need, they don’t ask why
Call them brother
So much space outside but there’s infinity within
Don’t need a sunrise for the day to start and begin
Call them lover
It’s really not all that bad
It can just be too much to bear
It’s really not all that bad
It can just be too much to bear
It’s really not all that bad
It can just be too much to bear
There are still some options left
And you will find yourself there
This poem is pretty new. I want to say within the past year or so. It was just something I wrote to cheer myself up on one of my dramatically bad days. I have also been fascinated with the term “Infinity Within” since one of my favorite bands, Deee-Lite, gave the moniker to their 1992 second studio album. Long live Lady Miss Kier!
