BREEZE LOVE SOUL
WALKING BACKWARDS
© Breeze Vincinz
If we could walk backwards
Where would we go?
If winter had a choice
Where would it snow?
Would U believe that I loved U
If I told U so?
The things U say 2 me
Feel like the cold
If things were different
Could U look me N the eye
Could U say N a manner
That resembles a lie
But not that shiny
Or that sly
That U love me 2
But U just don’t know why
Let’s say the object of love is courage
Let’s say that the clouds at night R orange
What about the angels
Painted N the frames?
Who blessed them with wings
2 play this game?
They pierce me with arrows of adoration
At the mere mention of your name
Then take them out leaving me
With nothing 2 say
If I had all the words
U would have already known
That without U I’m scared, with U I’m grown
With U I couldn’t care less
about the money I owe
Let’s say I love u
Walking backwards N the snow
Let’s say what I just said together N silence
Let’s say that the clouds at night R orange
If we could walk backwards
Where would we go
If winter had a choice
Where would it snow
Would U believe that I loved U
If I told U so
Let’s say “I love U”
Walking backwards N the snow
There was a time I had some intense crushes on girls. The intended benefactor of this poem was a young woman I used to work with at Subway Sandwiches in my college years. When I uncovered this poem, it just reads so innocent, young, and naive. I was also committed in my youth to rhyming the word orange with something, since all wordsmiths at the time demanded that there were no words in the English language that rhyme with it. And I always thought it took courage to forage through words that rhyme with orange. I also had to run this through AI several times to get the version I like. I decided to try a female voice, and that’s where the magic was. So let me introduce you to Lilly. Lilly White. My lily-white avatar that interprets some of my older poems.
